Which payment methods should a store enable?

The basic set is Russian bank cards, SBP and one-click payment through Pay services: it covers almost every buyer. The rest depends on your audience — foreign cards for selling abroad, recurring charges for a subscription model.

Where to start

  • Russian bank cards — Visa, Mastercard and Mir: the most familiar method and the backbone of turnover.
  • SBP by QR or link — the buyer pays from a banking app without entering a card.
  • SberPay and T-Pay — a short path for customers of those banks: the app supplies the details.

All three share one rate — from 2.9% — and are enabled together, with no separate contracts. The limit per operation is the same: 10 to 300,000 roubles.

What to add depending on the case

  • Foreign Visa and Mastercard cards if you sell outside Russia; they carry their own rate, from 8.9%.
  • Recurring charges if you run a subscription, a membership or contract instalments.
  • Payment links and QR codes if part of your sales goes through a manager, chat or an offline point. They are created in the dashboard with no integration.

How it works in MulenPay

Methods are switched on and off in the store settings in the dashboard; changes apply immediately and across every channel: the widget on the site, payment links and QR codes. For any method the 54-FZ receipt is generated automatically, card data never passes through the merchant server, and card operations are confirmed by 3-D Secure and screened by anti-fraud.

How to decide what to keep

  • Watch the share of each method in the dashboard analytics: unused options only lengthen the form.
  • Do not remove the card form entirely — it is the fallback when the buyer has no app for the right bank.
  • If the SBP share grows, move it higher in the form: payment without card entry is shorter.

Example

A gift store launches with cards, SBP and Pay services. Two months in, analytics show a noticeable share of orders placed through a manager in a messenger — the store adds payment links. When buyers from abroad appear, it enables foreign cards, and when it launches a loyalty club, recurring charges.

The full set of methods is on the accepting payments page. Whether foreign cards can be accepted is covered separately.
