An escrow-style deal holds the buyer money until the obligations are confirmed as met, and only then releases it to the seller. The buyer knows their money is safe, and the seller knows the order is paid and the funds are reserved.
Who needs it
- Platforms where the deal happens between two users rather than with a store.
- Services with a delayed result, where the work is accepted later.
- Expensive one-off purchases where both sides are wary of each other.
How it differs from ordinary payment
- The money does not reach the seller right after the payment is confirmed.
- There is an acceptance step: confirmation releases funds, a dispute pauses them.
- The hold period is limited, after which the deal closes by the platform rules.
