Right after payment the amount can be held for one to seven days.
No. On a hold the amount is blocked on the buyer card but does not reach the merchant until confirmation.
When the period runs out the bank releases the hold itself. That is the worst outcome for the buyer, who sees a reserved amount with no explanation — decide sooner.
Releasing a hold means the money never reached the merchant, so there is nothing to return. A refund is needed once the payment has settled.
No, there is no separate charge for holding — the fee is the same, from 2.9% per payment.
