Yes. A self-employed person can accept cards, SBP and payment links by connecting to a payment service. No terminal and no website of your own are required: a smartphone and a dashboard are enough.
How it works in practice
- You connect to the service and provide settlement details.
- You create a payment link or a QR code for a specific order.
- The client pays by card, SBP or a Pay service.
- The money reaches the account you gave, and the status is visible in the dashboard.
How it differs from a sole trader
The set of payment methods is the same; the onboarding paperwork is lighter for the self-employed. The base rate is identical — from 2.9% for Russian bank cards, SBP and Pay services.
Tax accounting is a separate matter. The payment service handles receiving money; issuing receipts in the tax app and paying the tax remain yours.
What to prepare
- Proof of self-employed status.
- Settlement details for incoming funds.
- A clear description of the service: what the client buys and on what terms.
